Recently, I co-wrote a paper on the use of media for peacebuilding. The paper is written for Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) and it sets out how a civil society organization working in the field of conflict prevention and peacebuilding should deal and interact with the media. The paper maps what the difficulties are for civil society talking to the media, and what skills or knowledge they should acquire to overcome these obstacles. It can be found here.
I gave a presentation titled “Curbing Incitment - Strategies and Lessons Learned” at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington D.C. The PowerPoint presentation is featured here.
In the most recent issue of Conflict and Communication online (Vol 6. No 2) , the pros and cons of peace journalsim are thoroughly scrutinized. Check the following link for the complete coverage: http://www.cco.regener-online.de/
On February 3, I discussed the peace media on the radio show PeaceTalks. The audio recording of the interview can be found here: http://www.peacetalks.fm/lounge.php
On December 12, 2006, I was a guest on the Brian Lehrer show on National Public Radio. The show titled “Speaking of Peace” discussed conflict resolution through the use of radio and also featured Shimon Malka, co-director of All for Peace Radio, East Jerusalem. Listen here.
The first peace media class is currently being developed. It was taught in the spring semester of 2006 at Hollins University. Class syllabus is available here.
I wrote about Peace Journalism for the Bosnian online publication “Pulse of Democracy.” The translated text can be found here.
