Here is my interview taped in Bonn, Germany at the Global Media Forum 2008 about media involvement in conflict and peacebuilding. Click here.
Recently, I co-wrote a paper on the use of media for peacebuilding. The paper is written for Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) and it sets out how a civil society organization working in the field of conflict prevention and peacebuilding should deal and interact with the media. The paper maps what the difficulties are for civil society talking to the media, and what skills or knowledge they should acquire to overcome these obstacles. It can be found here.
I gave a presentation titled “Curbing Incitment – Strategies and Lessons Learned” at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington D.C. The PowerPoint presentation is featured here.
In the most recent issue of Conflict and Communication online (Vol 6. No 2) , the pros and cons of peace journalsim are thoroughly scrutinized. Check the following link for the complete coverage: http://www.cco.regener-online.de/
On February 3, I discussed the peace media on the radio show PeaceTalks. The audio recording of the interview can be found here: http://www.peacetalks.fm/lounge.php
The first peace media class is currently being developed. It was taught in the spring semester of 2006 at Hollins University. Class syllabus is available here.
